This day highlights the critical role biodiversity plays in sustaining life: supporting clean water, food security, and resilient ecosystems.
In keeping with our commitment to protecting natural resources and supporting sustainable sanitation, the CARIBSAN Constructed Wetland Project in Blackbay, Vieux Fort, will integrate nature into wastewater treatment. By using heliconia plants, the system is designed to naturally purify waste water while preserving local ecosystems and promoting biodiversity. This innovative project is the first of its kind in the OECS and will serve as a blueprint for future replication in communities across Saint Lucia, Dominica, and Cuba as a sustainable sanitation solution.
WASCO is proud to champion this innovative, nature-based approach to wastewater treatment and pave the way for greener, more resilient communities.
