PLANNED NORTHERN NETWORK SHUTDOWN

February 25, 2025

Castries, Saint Lucia, February 25, 2025 – The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to advise consumers in the north of the island of a planned water supply interruption on Thursday, 27th February, 2025. WASCO will conduct critical repairs on the 24-inch raw water pipeline that supplies water from the John Compton Dam in Millet to The Theobalds Treatment Facility. The shutdown will affect residents from Millet to Cap Estate, excluding the Babonneau region and the southern network.

As part of standard execution protocol, preparatory works will begin on Tuesday, February 25, starting with the excavation of the transmission line. Once the pipeline is exposed, some customers may experience low flows due to the change in external conditions.

The works aim to address low pressures on the northern distribution line, that have resulted in supply disruptions in communities in the north. WASCO strongly urges all residents to store adequate water where possible, including rainwater harvesting, as disruptions are expected to last up to 48 hours. Please note that residents at higher elevations and those at the end of the northern distribution line should anticipate delays in full supply restoration as the system recharges after repairs are completed.

WASCO apologizes for the inconvenience this has caused as we work to reduce future water losses and enhance the efficiency of our water infrastructure.
