The Design and Construction Department is responsible for the planning, design, and execution of new water supply systems, including mains extensions, sewer networks, and internal reticulation for residential and commercial developments. Every infrastructure plan submitted by developers is carefully reviewed and approved to ensure it meets WASCO’s technical standards and regulatory requirements.
The department manages civil works and collaborates with the relevant internal departments and local government agencies to deliver projects that align with national development goals. It also oversees the commissioning and installation of water tanks, pipelines, and other essential assets, ensuring quality and reliability from initiation to completion.
Land surveying is another key function, with the team verifying boundary pegs and rerouting water lines to accommodate new developments or optimize existing infrastructure. Quantity surveying services include cost estimation, budgeting, and verification of contractor claims, along with assessment of damage reports and validation of bills of sale and quality control documentation.
Technical design is supported by AutoCAD drawings and GIS mapping, allowing for precise infrastructure layouts and digital data collection that enhance planning and asset management. The department also facilitates new customer connections, ensuring proper installation, testing, and commissioning of service lines and meters.
Through its diverse range of expertise and commitment to excellence, the Design and Construction Department ensures that WASCO’s infrastructure is built to serve communities across Saint Lucia with safe, reliable water and wastewater services.
